Texas State REACT Council - REACT International council for the state of Texas

Texas State REACT Council

  Membership Info

Membership in the Texas State REACT Council is limited to teams located within the state of Texas. Individuals are not members of the council. Only Teams can be members of the Council.

Every REACT Team in Texas is automatically a member of the Council, even if they choose to not attend the council meetings (held 3 times a year) nor participate in any activities sponsored or endorsed by the council.

However, there are some benefits for being a participating member of the council.

  • Keep current with happenings within the REACT organization
  • Expressing your opinion during council meetings or via the e-mail list server
  • Participate in the distribution of funds from the Council's participation in Community Shares of Texas (formerly known as Another Way Texas Shares -AWTS).

Since 1962, more than 44 years, REACT has been one of the leaders in public service volunteer radio operations. It has earned the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Action Award. Now you can be part of this prestigious international organization.

JOIN A REACT Team

More REACT volunteers are needed to ensure everyone gets help when needed. Every emergency call requires a monitor to succeed. It's as simple as that.

For more information on how to join REACT, visit REACT Internatiional's Web Site or send e-mail to REACT International, Inc. at our headquarters in Suitland, Maryland. For Texas info, send e-mail to membership@texasreact.org.

Our member teams in their local communities, work public service events and an untold number of small local emergencies ranging from single family house fires, multi-unit apartment fires, brush fires, chemical spills, train derailments, shelter operations by the Red Cross during floods, and of course our relentless monitoring of Emergency radio frequencies.

Besides our use of Amateur Radio, many REACT Teams use radios called General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS). Many of our teams have access to local GMRS Repeaters, generally on the 462.675 MHz frequency, and some teams have more than one repeater on different frequencies.

The Texas State REACT Council has 9 member teams in Texas, including all the major cities like Dallas/Ft. Worth, San Antonio and Austin, plus other communities in between. In 2005, two teams in the San Antonio Metro Area merged into a single team covering 4 counties.

This map of Texas with all of our Teams marked with the blue push pin. Click on any blue push pin to select that team's webpage for more information, or use the text links below instead.

If you don't see a blue push pin or listing for your county, why not contact REACT to get one started? All it takes is three (3) members, preferably radio operators. Most of the active Teams in Texas have converted to Amateur Radio and GMRS operations
