The By-Laws change to allow each Team a vote at the State Council meetings had passed its first vote at the November meeting in Houston.
The first page of the newsletter urged Teams to arrive in Brownwood at the Comfort Inn on Friday Night, March 5, 1993 prepared for Fun, Food, Fellowship and Business. President Riley asked Teams to be sure their delegates were certified by Delegate forms before arriving in Brownwood. Jerry Jennison reported that J. L. Riley would be attending the VOAID meeting in Alexandria, LA with him. VP Allan Tyler and Secretary Rena Pittman thanked the delegates for reelecting them.
Sergeant-at-Arms Janell Williford also expressed her appreciation for the opportunity to serve a full term. She reported 62 attendees in Houston on November 7, 1992 and eleven Teams represented. Total miles traveled were 6,905.75. Areas 4 and 5 each had three Teams in attendance. No one was there from Area 6.
San Angelo REACT Ass'n brought 7 members, won the Area 2 Travel trophy and helped win the State Travel trophy for Area 2 (2,294.25 miles). San Antonio REACT won the Area V Travel Trophy with 356.5 miles traveled.
The Area 2 delegates were Kellee Elms and Randy Taylor. Robert Beran and Skip Wood represented Area 4. Lee Besing and Keren Pratz were the Area 5 delegates. Lee and Chuck Thompson represented Area 7. Dorothy McLemore and Judy Bell served as Area 8 delegates.
Bobby Jones thanked everyone for their cards and letters while he was ill. Publicity Chm Al Moore told us about the REACT Ad on page 25 of the Radio Shack Catalog and showed us the Ads in the Best Western Directory. He said that when any newspaper in Texas transmits a story about REACT, the name will come up in caps.
Allan Tyler spoke of the need for help at the Special Olympic Winter games later in November and at the Summer Games to be held in Denton on May 19-21, 1993. International CB Task Group Chm Dorothy McLemore asked REACTors to use tact when they ask people to get off Channel 9.
Old histories were selling for $3 and an update would be available in March for $1.
Only three Teams sent in news items for this BREAK-9. Brownwood REACT was proud to announce that Sharon Grimm would serve as their president and were looking forward to our visit in March. San Angelo REACT Ass'n had celebrated Christmas in a special way: a Team party hosted by Rita and Kellee Elms on Dec. 17th and a visit by Santa, Gary Pittman, to children at Shannon and Angelo Community Hospitals, where young patients talked to Santa by GMRS.
There was an invitation to attend the Area V meeting in San Antonio on Feb. 20th for a free lunch and hear amateur radio operator Steve Sternitzke. Bell County REACT reported on their last Area V meeting program and two special meeting speakers. Their 1992 Monitor of the Year was Cecil Stewart.
The Grants committee had received requests for assistance in procuring GMRS radios and have another $1500 from HEB for Safety Breaks.
Brownwood REACT won Team of the Year for 1992 from the State Council Awards Committee. They also won for the months of July and August. No award for outstanding survive was given for June. September's award was given to San Antonio REACT and October's to Bell County REACT.
The editor gave some ideas of how to get and keep new members in his editorial. The calendar was cut to one page to this issue and a copy of the registration form for the REACT International Convention in San Diego was included to remind REACTors to register for the early bird price before May 1.

TEAMWORK MEANS "WE" IN '93
The newly elected officers for 1993-94 were listed on the inside cover of the Volume 14, Letter 1 issue of BREAK-9 which was mailed in January, 1993. The only change was the Executive Vice President who was a former President of the State Council, Jerry Jennison of San Angelo REACT Ass'n. His other hats during the next two years include VOAID Coordinator and Disaster Coordinator.
