
There was a special Executive Board meeting in Belton on January 21, 1984 to draft a budget, plan an election to fill the vacancy left when F. D. Lindblad resigned as Vice President and plan for REACT Forum President John Tracy to attend the March meeting in San Angelo.
All the members of Fort Stockton REACT, a new Team, attended their first State Council meeting in San Angelo. Don Gawlick resigned as editor of the "BREAK-9" and Aubrey King was appointed to fill the position for the remainder of the term. Curtis Bell was elected to fill the position of Vice President. Jerry Jennison was elected as delegate to REACT International to replace F. D. Lindblad. Kathy King displayed samples of the cook book, and the State Council adopted a $5900.00 budget. The council passed a resolution supporting REACT International Headquarters.
June 15, 1984, Piney Woods REACT received notice that their Team had won the Third Quarter REACT International Award of Achievement.
The July 1984 meeting was held in Houston. The Area council Presidents were appointed to serve as a nominating committee for the November election of officers.
Thirteen Texas REACTors representing four Area Councils attended the REACT International convention at Daytona Beach, Florida. Richard Pratz served on the REACT Forum nominating committee. He was also was elected Life Membership Chairman. The State Council newsletter BREAK-9 placed third in the newsletter competition.
The November 3, 1984 meeting was hosted by Bell County REACT at the River Forest Restaurant in Belton. Managing Director Jerry Reese was the guest speaker. Jerry Reese made presentations to Charles Thompson in honor of his candidacy for Field Director, Judy Bell for her work at the last REACT International convention and Richard Pratz for his work with REACT. Van Zandt County REACT, Team 4606 was recognized as a new Team.
The 1985/86 officers were elected. They were:
Ben Knight of Travis County REACT, obtained a proclamation from Governor Mark White for proclaiming November as REACT Month in Texas. The proclamation was reproduced and mailed to the Teams. Kathy King reported that 608 cookbooks had been ordered. She also displayed a proposed disaster preparedness manual, which the Council adopted pending final revisions. Richard Pratz presented framed letters of appreciation to the elected officers and committee chairmen.
